SUGAR RUSH

A couple of weekends ago I took a trip to Naperville to visit with my mom. We were lucky enough to get have lunch with my three SHE SHE's. We normally go to a restaurant near her house where for yummy food. One of the items on the menu is a kitchen sink that they fill with all kinds of ice cream, toppings, bananas and cherries.
When my mom and I went to this restaurant for the first time and saw this on the menu we knew had to bring the girls there to enjoy.
Well we finally did and they had a ball!!!!!!!
It is so heart warming to see how simple things can bring such joy to children!!!!!

St. Patty's Day

Greetings Fellow Bloggers!!!!!!!!!!!

I know you all might be thinking. . . . . . "Erin, Why didn't you post anything on St. Patrick's Day?"

Well I took the Day off so I could soak up all the fun of the day.

My St. Patrick's Day was glorious. The sun was shining, I saw Green everywhere I went, Many of my co-workers stopped by to celebrate the special day with me, I recieved many well wishes from friends and family, and it was my 2 year anniversary with Joe.

Yes. . . My favorite day of the year and my anniversary!!! What a day!!!

That night Joey and I went out to a gourmet dinner in downtown Davenport. The walk to the restaurant was so nice because of the weather. I truly feel that people that live in the Midwest have such a greater appreciation for Spring. After our DELICIOUS and DECADENT dinner we headed off to an Irish bar to meet some friends for a drink.

All in all it was a great night.

As I look back these two years have gone by so quickly. So much has changed and I have changed as a person. I am grateful for every minute and feel BLESSED.

While we were eating dinner Joey and I made prediction's on what the next two years would bring for us. But those details our in the future and we will take them as they come!!!!

Hope everyone had a great day

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY

Irish Traditions

Here are some of the Irish Traditions:

An Irish Wedding

A typical Irish Wedding is a beautiful ceremony to see or take part in. Often times the groom wears a kilt and the bride typically wears the dress of her mother. When the bride typically turns 12 years old her parents give her a special ring. This ring has the heart face the outside away from her heart. On her wedding day the bride turns the ring around to symbolize that her heart is taken.

Did you know the Irish culture created the idea of the wake or visitation before the funeral???
Why did St. Patrick's day start???
-In Ireland they started this day so they could teach the children the good that St. Patrick did and why he had become a saint.
What language might you hear while visiting Ireland???
-Gaelic
Where has the largest St. Patrick's Day Parade??
-Savannah Georgia (SURPRISE SURPRISE)
Hope everyone enjoys these fun Irish traditions!!!

An Irish Blessing

An Irish Blessing

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind always be at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your field.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palms of his hands.

May God be with you and bless you,
May you see your children's children,
May you be poor in misfortune,
rich in blessings,
May you know nothing but happiness,
From this day forward.

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind always be at your back,
May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home,
And may the hand of a friend always be near.

May green be the grass you walk on.
May blue be the skies above you.
May pure be the joys that surround you.
May true be the hearts that love you.

Beauty Rush

Well I know everyone was expecting me to do something Irish and towards the end I will some Irish info but for right now I wanted to feature some of my favorite beauty finds:

Up to bat first:

My FABULOUS hair dresser turned me on to these hair products: KENRA. Let me tell you before I started using these products I was a hair product junkie and I can honestly tell you that I have tried 90% of hairsprays on the market and this one ROCKS!!! A new KENRA product that I just recently tried was there hair masque. You use this product one a week and if you curl/blow-dry/ straighten your hair will thank you for this nourishing treatment!!!

If I was stranded on an island and I was allowed to bring one beauty product MAC lipglass would be my product. In my opinion they have the largest color selection and the lipglass doesn't have a tacky feeling. I will give you a heads up though it isn't cheap and it NEVER goes on sale and runs $14.00 but is worth every penny!!!

Now that I have reached my mid twenties I am starting to take much better care of my skin. I think having a consistent skin care regime is important to keeping your skin from the dreaded WRINKLES!!!! This is the Warming Green Tea Masque by Beauty Control. I tried the BC skincare line and was not impressed but this masque I do at least once a week. It really smooths the skin and helps rejuvenate that natural glow.

And know I am going to sound like a major Follower but Bare Minerals Make-Up. I have used Clinque, Estee Lauder, Perscriptives, etc etc. . . . and I liked some of them but felt that they clogged my pores most of the time. A couple of years ago my mom gave me a gift certificate to go get a starter pack and a lesson in how to apply the make-up. I was hooked instantly due to the clean light feeling of the makeup. I would highly recommend it to other. Since I have started using this makeup I have noticed a significant decrease in breakouts!! Whoot Whoot! I will tell you the initial starter kit is around $65.00 but last much longer than liquid makeup.

Now for your Irish fact of the day:

Dying the Chicago River green has been happening for over the past 40 years. They start with an orange color and then the green starts. This tradition is to symbolize that leprechaun is in action. What a lucky lady I am to have seen this celebration

The Countdown has Started

Well if you dont know this I am a FANATIC about St. Patrick's Day.

Every year since I was a little girl my mom has made St. Patricks day a very special tradition in our home. When I was little we would decorate the house in green and shamrock lights!!! On the actual holiday I would wake up to a special breakfast, gifts, (typically a new green top) mini freen foorprints, and as I got older an occasional day off from school to spend with her!!!!! And even an occasional trip to downtown Chicago to see the green river.

Now as I am older I still dearly CHERISH this day. I have bits and pieces of Ireland always around me. (If you cant tell I am almost 100% Irish) On my desk at work I have Ireland mini flags. On a shelf I have the St. Patricks statue with the Irish prayer, I have over the years collected many Irish tshirts, and home decor for this special day.

All this month I will be including some fun Irish facts and pictures and of course all the celebration that I take part in.

I encourage everyone to get in the mood with some GREEN !!!
