A friend of mine recently shared this with me and I really liked the idea of it so Joey and I decided to make this part of our nighttime routine.
The idea is that there is a specific word, along with a Bible verse to go along with it.
Day 1. Compassionate
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Colossians 3:12
Day 2. Contented
“I know what is is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength” - Philippians 4:12-13
Day 3. Courageous
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9
Day 4. Decisive
“So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. Therefore let us stop passing judgement on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother’s way.” – Romans 14:12-13
Day 5. Dependable
“Whatever your lips utter you must be sure to do, because you made your vow freely to the LORD your God with your own mouth.” Deuteronomy 23:23a
Day 6. Diligent
“Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” – Romans 12:10-13
Day 7. Enthusiastic
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” – Colossians 3:23
Day 8. Faithful
“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.” - Proverbs 3:3
Day 9. Generous
“Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.” – 1 Timothy 6:18-19
Day 10. Gracious
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” - Proverbs 15:1
Day 11. Helpful
“And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues.” – 1 Corinthians 12:28
Day 12. Honest
“A truthful witness gives honest testimony, but a false witness tells lies.” - Proverbs 12:17
Day 13. Hopeful
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13
Day 14. Humble
“…to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men.” – Titus 3:2
Day 15. Joyful
“Be joyful always; pray continually.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17
Day 16. Just
“He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” – Micah 6:8
Day 17. Kind
“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” - Ephesians 4:32
Day 18. Loving
“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” - 1 Peter 4:8
Day 19. Merciful
“Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.” – Luke 6:36
Day 20. Obedient
“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.” – Ephesians 6:1
Day 21. Peace Loving
“Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.” – James 3:18
Day 22. Persevering
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” - Hebrews 12:1
Day 23. Prayerful
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6
Day 24. Pure
“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” – Psalm 51:10
Day 25. Respectful
“Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.” – 1 Peter 2:17
Day 26. Responsible
“For each one should carry his own load.” – Galatians 6:5
Day 27. Self Controlled
“Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring looking for someone to devour.” - 1 Peter 5:8
Day 28. Self Disciplined
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” – 2 Timothy 1:7
Day 29. Servant’s Heart
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” – Galatians 6:9
Day 30. Thankful
“Rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” – Colossians 2:7
Day 31. and always remember GRACE
“For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.” – Romans 6:14
